Al-Isra' (2) - Parents

Assalamualaikum w.b.t .

The next topic is about our behaviours to our parents. It is written in Al Quran, surah al-Isra', ayat 23-24.

And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.

And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small."

(17:24)

Each of us already knows this. To always be good to our parents, be a nice child to them, be a child that they'll be proud of.... but not all of us able to do all the things that we should do. We know to always be good to them, but sometimes we become a bad child, we didn't appreciate them, we didn't try to do anything to make them proud.. not everyone can do that. Or not everyone wants to do that. We know it right? But we still..

Actually it isn't easy to make sure everything is fine, to make sure what we said will not hurt them, to make sure we are doing our best to make them proud, to make sure they are not worrying about us all the time, to make sure we become a child who's always trying to lessen their burden, I know, it isn't easy. We tried all the time. But at some moments, we are not be able to be the best for them.

Even I, as a daughter, the only daughter, the eldest child in my family, I find it hard. I find it hard to make sure I am a daughter, a sister that my parents and my brothers will be proud of. Honestly said, I am not a daughter who is good at everything, not all the time I am at the kitchen helping my mother, not all the time I am with my father to cheer him up, and I am also not a smart student who's always get flying colours in my exams and make them happy. Even now, I always think I am not a daughter that will be proud of. And even I am already in college right now, I never think I've made them proud of me even once. Eventhough I got straight A's in my UPSR exam, but still.

To go back to the past, to study again, to be focus again, to try my very hard to get the straight A's that they want.. I know I won't be able to do that. What power do I have to make me go back in time? No I don't have it. And it is too late to regret it now. But please, Allah didn't like His servants to feel regret about the things that have already done. Because, there is always a chance for us. Everyday, when we wake up, that is a chance for us. A chance that Allah gives to us to become a better person, a better child from the past.

Eventhough we know we are always lacking in so many things, let's try. Let's try our very best to make our parents proud of us. To make they happy to have a child like us. To make they grateful that we are their child. Let's try okay? And ask Allah, for sure and don't ever forget this, to strengthen our imaan, to make us realize every single day to appreciate our parents. To strengthen the relationship between our parents and us.

And also, don't ever forget to always recite the du'a for our parents. Ask Him to always protect them wherever they are, to always take good care of their health, to open 'pintu rezeki yang halal' for them, to make them happy in any situation, to make them stay strong to overcome any problems, and to remind them that we always remember them wherever, whenever we are.

When it is so hard to show it by action, show it through your du'a. Allah will always hear what you say. And He has His own way to let our parents know what we feel.

Allahu, I hope I can be a better child each day, the one who'll make my parents proud that I am, their child.

This post becomes so emotional for me huhu. But I hope you guys will get the message from the verses in the Quran.

All the goods are from Him, and the bads are from me for sure. Reminds to myself also.

Thank you for reading.
